Wednesday, July 17, 2013 - Day 34 (rest day)
Had a good night's sleep. Got up at 8:50 AM. Amy prepared fried bologna, fried dough (Toutons or Dough Dangs?) with molasses, fried eggs and toasts and juice for breakfast. I watched the news and played with Liam. That kid sure has a lot of energy. Stephanie, Daniel and Alison and dog slept over. Daniel was slow to get up which upset Stephanie. Marilyn (from Orleans) called on Skype. She couldn't get her video to work. I checked e-mail and FB. Jim replied saying he never heard of "Moose Piss" but would bring it up for discussion at the OFARTS round table. Got dressed and drove out to La Scie to look at an iceberg after stopping off in Baie Verte so Bev could go to the bank and Amy did some shopping at Shopper's Drug Mart. Also went to Amy's Aunt Teresa's house to see if Steph, et al were coming to La Scie. They chose to go to trailer to do some kayaking. We arrived in La Scie a day to late!!! The iceberg broke up yesterday and was all gone. I think it's a likely story to get tourists to come up and spend their money. We walked up to the lookout point and took some photos. Liam played on the slide, swing, etc. Drove back into town and ordered fried chicken and chips for lunch/dinner. Bev also treated us to soft ice cream cones. We drove around some more while chicken was being prepared. While picking up chicken Liam asked me to remove paper from his cone but before I could get around to him he dropped his cone on truck floor. I picked it up and threw it in the garbage. A few minutes later he shouted out he needed to go "poo". I went in shop and got Amy to deal with that one. We drove back to Baie Verte and Amy dropped off some fried chicken and chips at a friends house. We also went around to check on Steph, et al at Aunt Teresa's but they had left for Flat Lake Campground where Amy's trailer was parked. We drove out to the campground where we found them getting ready to go kayaking. We sat down and had our lunch of fried chicken and chips. Liam was bouncing all over the place. Steph, et al returned from kayaking and feasted on fried chicken, etc. Amy changed boys into swim suits and they all went to the "beach". I stayed in trailer and updated my journal and did some reading. I got Amy to get their bike pump out as I wanted to check our bicycle tires once we got back home. Eventually the others all returned from the beach. After tidying trailer and locking it up Amy drove us back to Wild Cove. But first Amy had to stop in Baie Verte to get some bread. Bev collected our laundry plus a few odds and ends for Steph and Amy. Earlier I had checked the flat screen TV inputs and noticed that their were two USB ports on the side. Last night, in poor lighting, we had put the thumb drive in the USB port labelled "Service". I tried the port above it but my thumb drive wouldn't fit in it? I copied our (Bev and mine) photos to Amy's laptop and put on a slide show of all the photos we had taken in the Baie Verte region. I collected the laundry, which Bev had placed in the dryer earlier, and brought it up to the living room for folding. It was getting late and I wanted to get up early tomorrow morning so that we could get off to Baie Verte Junction. Did some reading before turning off the lights at 10:30 PM.
